Your first FileMotion workflow.
A practical starting point for preparing, installing, and evaluating your deployment.
Understand the components
FileMotion Server coordinates transfer jobs. FileMotion Agent is an endpoint component for an agent-based connection. Existing SFTP services and network shares can also be used where the supported connection and required access are available.
Prepare the environment
Use the installation instructions and prerequisites supplied with the release you are evaluating.
- Choose a controlled test environment and a separate test destination.
- Confirm the source and destination systems, file paths, and required permissions.
- Confirm network connectivity and the service or connection model at each endpoint.
- Identify the expected transfer result before configuring the job.
Install the right components
Install FileMotion Server using the release-specific instructions. Add FileMotion Agent on an endpoint only if the workflow uses an agent connection. Confirm the operating-system requirements supplied with each package.
Validate your first transfer
Keep the first test small and easy to inspect.
- Create the required connection and test connectivity.
- Configure a job with the selected source and destination paths.
- Check the transfer direction and file-selection settings before execution.
- Run with sample files, then inspect the destination and execution information.
- Configure the recurring schedule after the sample behaves as expected.
Collect useful troubleshooting details
When a result differs from your expectations, record the exact error and the relevant execution time. Check connectivity, credentials, permissions, and paths. Contact support with the component version and sanitized logs.
Evaluation and license questions
Evaluation terms and license instructions accompany the build or purchase. For a quotation, contact sales. For an existing license, contact support using your purchasing email address.
